The Klondike is the Saturday after our Gathering -- January 21st, 2006.

I will be there, as will Tom Whelan. There's a few of us Alumni types who are coordinating the crackerbarrel. If you'd like to join us, I'm sure we can use an extra couple of hands dishin' out the hot chocolate!

I think I might be there. Where will you be and at what time should I get there?

Check in is at 7:00 and I would like to have something open and available for when the Scouts arrive.

I plan to spend Friday night at Camp so I can wake up Sat morning and get things going.

Right now the plan is to set up the old Trading Post (it's now just a large room) as the Saloon. We'll have Hot Chocolate, Coffee, and probably a hot food item on hand. To set the mood Dennis is going to bring some ragtime music.

The goal is to start putting on a crackerbarrell that will start to look and feel like the old west.

I'm hoping to find somethign that is at least passable for a period costume. I'm sure that Dennis is coming fully decked out (I don't know where the man finds the time!).

I'm in search of what an authentic costume would be and may review a Deadwood episode tonight to put one together.

For this one, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Other than waxing the mustache, I'll probably look more lumberjack than Yukon gold rush prospector. Not enough time to make/find/borrow a capote this year.

I won't be getting out there until early Saturday morning, myself. I plan to be out at camp by the time check-in actually opens, although I doubt it will be too much earlier than that.

The check in for the Klondike is at 7am and it should run to 3pm or 4pm.

I just talked with Dave White (the Chair for this year's Klondike) and he has requested that the alumni assist with the cracker barrel again so we will need volunteers for that.

Dave is also changing the format of lunch this year. All the Scouts will gather in Tom Cullen field for a cooked lunch and will be judged on several factors. Meanwhile, the rest of the Event Staff will be able to break for their own lunch (centered at the 21 Club) and Dave would like the Alumni to cook this lunch for them. I did not commit to this last point becuase I need to find out who will be available for the weekend and whether or not the alumni would be able to assist with this task.

I figure that we need 2-4 people for the cracker barrel and another 2-4 people to prep the lunch for the staff.

Taking volunteers now! Please let me know if you plan to attend the Klondike and if you want to help with the cracker barrel or Staff lunch.

I will not be able to personally attend the Klondike this year since I will be at Foxwoods (don't feel bad for me Smile ).

Well, I won't be there tomorrow, but I did get commitments from Dennis, Brian, and Dave G. Food is provided by Council and we are responsible for making sure things run smoothly and for atmosphere.

Dave White is the Klondike chair, so someone from the Alumni should check in with him to let him know that the cracker barrel is set to go. I never committed to the lunch idea with him, so he should have made other plans.

Plan to show up early (7ish) and you should be able to pack up by 4pm.

Weather shows that it should be a bit colder than last year, but not terrible.
