We hope that those of you who can will be joining us for next weekend's annual Memorial Day family camping event out at Cachalot, but, whether or not we'll see you at camp next weekend, we wanted to remind you of our other events coming up this summer.
As we've mentioned previously, we've decided to split our work projects out of the family camping weekends into their own dedicated "work days", trying to follow in the footsteps of the old "Beaver Weekend" work events from the days of Moby Dick Council. Our first such work day is right around the corner, on Saturday June 11th at Camp Cachalot, beginning at 9:00am and running all day. We'll be helping the Ranger get started on a remodel of the camp's Welcome Center in the front of the Boathouse, so the work will mostly consist of some demolition and framing.
Our big event for the summer, like summers past, is our annual Homecoming, which will take place July 9th at Cachalot. This is also our Wall of Fame induction ceremony, so we hope you'll be able to save the day and come out to help us celebrate our second class of honorees! More information on Homecoming will be coming in the spring issue of the Cachaletter and our website in the next few weeks. Watch for it!
Our work day and Homecoming events are open to all interested parties, Association members or not.
Finally, our family camping weekends bookend the summer, and we'll be open for registered members of the Association and their families for a second weekend of camping over Labor Day weekend, September 2-5.
(Speaking of the Wall of Fame, today is the last day for paid members of the Association to get their votes in! We've gotten quite a few in already, but please take a few minutes to review your ballots and drop us an email with your selections!) _________________ Dennis
