On the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend (May 28th and 29th), the Camp Cachalot Alumni Association will be re-staining and repainting the exterior of our dining hall, Prescott Hall, so that it's ready for summer camp. We could use all the hands we can get -- anyone able to work some sandpaper, handle a roller, or swing a paintbrush is invited to come join us!

In exchange for volunteering, the Narragansett Council is allowing our volunteers and their families to tag along and camp at Cachalot through the Memorial Day weekend (arrival Friday evening, May 27th, and departure by 11:00am Monday May 30th.) All campers are expected to behave in accordance with the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and the rules of Camp Cachalot. In addition, we'll be providing lunch on both work days for our helpers. All camping must be in tents, in the "pine grove" area near the Trading Post, with nearby access to bathroom facilities and water.

If you're able to help out for some or all of the weekend, please send email or call our Vice-Chairman, Tom Whelan, at vicechairman@cachalotalumni.org or at (508) 993-1981. Please let him know how many will be coming, how many of those will be helping with the project, and what days you plan on attending. You can also contact Tom with any questions.

This will be our first major service project as an organization, and we're doing our best to make sure it'll be a successful one. We're also looking forward to just having a good time out at Cachalot with old friends (once the work is done, of course!) We all hope to see you there!
