Bring Out Your Stuff!

We'll be getting together on January 6th, 2007, from 9:00AM through 3:00PM at the church hall of Smith Mills Christian Congregational in Dartmouth for our third annual Camp Cachalot Alumni Association Gathering and Memorabilia Expo! Along with our usual bevy of activities, we'll have some very well-known members of the Scouting memorabilia trading community in New England on-hand to check out your goodies, so bring them along! Whether you want to figure out what that old camp patch or neckerchief is worth, browse through loads of Cachalot, Noquochoke, and Scouting memorabilia and photos, trade your extras with other folks at a Trade-o-ree, or just sit down for a meal and share memories with your fellow alumns, there'll be something for you at this year's Gathering! Our appraisers should add a little bit of that "Antiques Roadshow" feel to the proceedings. So crack open that old footlocker, dig out your own collection, and join us for a little post-holidays fun!

Also on tap for the day:

  • Displays of Camp Cachalot and related Scouting memorabilia
  • Slide and movie presentations of Camp-related photos, dating back to the 1940's
  • Memorabilia collectors and traders from throughout the Northeast (and beyond!)
  • A short gathering of the Alumni in attendance, to keep you up-to-date on the Association's goings-on

You can find full details at the bottom of this page. Alumni-specific activity begins with lunch at noon.

Share Your Memories

We are especially interested in any old photos and slides of Cachalot and Noquochoke that you might have. If you have pictures, feel free to bring them with you – we plan to have a computer scanning station set up and staffed by a member of our History committee to scan in prints and slides. Our ability to scan things in will be limited by the time we have available, so if you are able to scan things in yourself, feel free to bring them along in electronic form (CD- or DVD- recordable, USB or Firewire drive – contact curator@cachalotalumni.org if you have any questions about the formats we can cope with.) The higher the resolution, the better.

Thanks to our members, we've already collected over 1,300 photos covering the 1940s right through to modern times, although we're still missing photos of many notable figures from the past, photos of the old Quonset Hut, and have very few photos from Camp Noquochoke in general.
