Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you enjoyed your holidays and that 2010 finds you well.

Registered members of the Association may have noticed that fall has come and gone and you haven't received your Cachaletter yet. Rest assured, one is coming, and you should see the (delayed) "Fall" issue during the month of January. So, why is it late? That brings us to our "non-event".

Those who have been paying attention know that we usually hold our Winter Gathering in mid-January. For a variety of reasons (mainly difficulty in securing a venue and a greatly reduced operating budget due to low endowment income this year), the Executive Committee has opted to skip the Gathering this year and concentrate our efforts on making the July Homecoming at Cachalot the best we can make it. This is especially important to us this year, since we will be inducting our first Wall of Fame honorees at Homecoming. Full information on the Wall of Fame nomination process will be included in the Cachaletter you'll be receiving shortly. We had been holding the Cachaletter until we had final info on the Gathering, and now that we do, it'll be mailed soon.

Even though we won't be doing The Gathering this year, members of the Association will be on-hand at the Cachalot/Massasoit District Klondike Derby out at Cachalot on Saturday, January 9th, running the warming station and handing out coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks to the competitors and other attendees. We'll also have Wall of Fame information and nomination forms on hand, so drop by if you're there!

Finally, congratulations to fellow Cachalot alum Michael McCue, who has been chosen by the Standard-Times as the Freetown Man of the Year for his service to his hometown. You can check out the article here. Kudos, Mike!
